Rhyme Calisthenics, is a hip-hop game show that started in the local Pittsburgh hip-hop scene. It made its debut in 2007 at the Shadow Lounge which is another staple of the Pittsburgh Hip-hop scene. It was founded buy David "Stretchshino Pro" Hughes also known as Thelonious Stretch and James Armstead Brown also known as JB.
Rhyme Calisthenics combines rap battles and game show elements to create a unique and challenging competition for hip-hop artists. Stretch's vision for Rhyme Calisthenics was to create.a platform for emcees ti showcase their skills in a variety of challenges, pushing them beyond traditional rap battles. The "Wheels of Skills" is a key features of the show, presenting performers with twelve different challenges that test their flow, improvisation, and lyrical dexterity.
Rhyme Calisthenics has gained recognition in the hip-hop community for its innovative format and its commitment to showcasing talented emcees. The show has held over 50 Rhyme Calisthenics event in various locations including New York, Washington D.C., and Pittsburgh and Philly. It has featured both established emcees like Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa.and up-and-coming artists. It has provided a platform for one 90 emcees from region and aligning states to showcase their skills in the endangered art of freestyle.
Stretch and JB's dedication to the craft of hip-hop and his vision for Rhyme Calisthenics have made it a significant platform for emcees to hone their skills and gain exposure in the industry..
